The events give the community a legal and cost-free way to dispose of unwanted household chemicals that cannot be disposed of in the regular curbside collection.
Household Hazardous Waste & Shredding Collection Events 2022
LOCATION: West Bloomfield Civic Center Complex – 4550 Walnut Lake Road
SHREDDING DAY(S):
- Spring Drop-Off: Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 9 am to 12 noon
- Fall Drop-Off: Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 9 am to 12 noon
A mobile ON-SITE paper shredding company will provide secure destruction of personal, financial, medical and legal residential documents. No business or commercial shredding accepted. Open to residents of all participating communities, no appointments.
SENIOR SHREDDING NIGHTS:
- Spring Shredding Drop-Off: Friday, April 22, 2022, from 4 pm to 6 pm
- Fall Shredding Drop-Off: Friday, September 23, 2022, from 4 pm to 6 pm
No appointments are necessary, but photo I.D. will be required to enter the event.
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENT
West Bloomfield is proud to offer its residents two (2) annual Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Events during the Spring & Fall of each calendar year. The events allow the community a legal and cost-free way to dispose of unwanted household chemicals that cannot be disposed of in the regular curbside collection.
HHW – HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DROP-OFF:
Drop-Off event for the collection of both residential Hazardous Waste and E-Waste (electronics).
- Spring HHW Drop-Off: Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 9 am to 12 noon
- Fall HHW Drop-Off: Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 9 am to 12 noon
HHW – SHUT-IN APPOINTMENTS:
A limited number of appointments are available to homebound West Bloomfield residents who are unable to drive to the HHW Events. Township staff will pick-up both residential hazardous waste and e-waste.

- Products containing toxic chemicals like cleaning products, solvents, pesticides, oil-based paints and weed killer.

Why shouldn’t Hazardous Waste be disposed of with your trash or flushed down the toilet or sink?
- These products can be a threat to living beings and they can pollute the air, water, and soil.
HOW TO IDENTIFY HAZARDOUS WASTE —
Look for key words on containers such as “Danger”, “Caution”, “Poison”, “Flammable”, “Corrosive” or “Use in Well Ventilated Area”.

Oakland County Document Shredding Events 2022
Experts always say it’s best to have sensitive documents shredded to protect against theft. Confidential and personal documents will be shred on site by Rapid Shred’s state-of-the-art high volume shredding truck. The truck will be in the parking lot. There is no need for residents to leave their cars. Arrive early as there is typically a line of cars, although the line moves quickly.
Residents are reminded to limit documents to three or four boxes of paper only. This service is available to residents only. No commercial or business use.
These events are sponsored by Vibe Credit Union, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and Oakland County Parks and Recreation.
Oakland County residents may bring their confidential, personal documents to be shred on site for free by Rapid Shred’s state-of-the-art, high volume shredding truck.

Farmington Hills is giving consideration to a proposal for a temporary concrete batch mixing plant on Northwestern Highway. The plant would be on the east side of Northwestern, just south of 14 Mile Road, adjacent to the Public Storage facility.
A PUBLIC HEARING will be held:
