Sirens to activate, Wednesday, March 24th

Outdoor warning sirens will activate on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 1 p.m.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Oakland County Executive David Coulter have declared the week of March 21 – 27, 2021 as Severe Weather Awareness Week in Michigan

Oakland County’s Homeland Security Division will engage in various public education efforts during Severe Weather Awareness Week to help minimize the loss of life and destruction of property that can result from severe weather events.

As part of this initiative, a special test of the Early Weather Warning System will be conducted. The Outdoor Warning System sirens will be activated on Wednesday, March 24 at 1 p.m.

The purpose of the test is to raise the level of severe weather safety awareness and to offer schools and businesses an opportunity to review and test their internal disaster plans. Residents are asked to note the date and time of the test to help stop calls to 9-1-1 or to local Police and Fire Departments.
