Public hearing: Cement mixing plant on Northwestern

Update 5/11/22: Concrete mixing plant going up on Northwestern Hwy

We’ve just learned about this from a discussion on Nextdoor.com. We’re certain that Kimberley North residents will want to know about this, ask questions, and voice their concerns.

The facility would be located in the circled area if approved.

The Farmington Hills Planning Commission is giving “formal consideration” to a Special Approval Request. The applicant for this request is Steve Gregor, Florence Cement Company. Approval for a temporary concrete mixing batch plant on the east side of Northwestern Highway, just south of 14 Mile Road, shown on the map here, is being considering.

The Hearing Notice does not give any details such as the purpose of the plant, what activities will go on there, or how long “temporary” is. We believe that the plant will support the Orchard Lake Road reconstruction project which is expected to wrap up this November. We presume that this information is in the application documents available from the Farmington Hills Planning Commission and will, no doubt, be discussed at the public hearing. The application may be reviewed at the FH Planning Office * on any business day between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm.
