Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event

Information:

Acceptable items include:

  • GARDEN/GARAGE: Fungicides, Herbicides, Insecticides, Pesticides, Automotive Fluids, Gasoline & Diesel, Kerosene, Car Batteries, Polishes and Bug Spray
  • WORKSHOP: All Paints – maximum 10 gallons per vehicle, Paint Solvents, Glues (solvent based), Wood Preservatives, Fluorescent Light Bulbs and Varnish
  • KITCHEN/BATHROOM: Thermometers, Chemical Cleaners, Furniture Polish, Nail Polish, Expired Medication and Plastic Shopping Bags
  • MISCELLANEOUS: Pool Chemicals, Household Batteries, Moth Balls, Solvents and Muriatic Acid
  • ELECTRONICS: Computers and Monitors, Typewriters, Microwave Ovens, Phones, Pagers, Printers, Fax Machines, Scanners, PDA’s, Stereos, Radios, Cassette Players, Walkman, CD Players, MP3 Players, Clocks and TV’s. A “Certificate of Recycling” and a “Certificate of Hard Drive Destruction” are available from vendor at no extra charge. Electronics should not be in boxes.
  • SHREDDING: On-site shredding of PERSONAL documents will be available – maximum 50 pounds per vehicle.
  • SALVATION ARMY: will be on site (Saturday only) for a “Donation Drive”.

Items NOT Accepted

  • Household appliances, computer monitors with broken glass, Appliances, Water Heaters, Humidifiers, Dehumidifiers, Air Conditioners or Tires
  • Please contact Rizzo directly for disposal options on items not accepted. (Rizzo 866-722-8900).
  • Syringes cannot be accepted, see below

Friday Appointments

  • Evening Appointments will be available on the Friday before each event between 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. We will have areas set up to take your household hazardous items, electronics, and personal shredding up to 50 lbs.
  • However, The  Salvation Army will not be on site to accept donations  on  Friday  evening.
  • To request an appointment, please call the Hotline on or after April 1st for Spring / August 26th for Fall
  • Shut-In Service will also be provided on the Friday before each event between 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The shut in  service  is  limited  to  West  Bloomfield  residents  with  physical  limitations.
    • Cabinet  TV’s,  shredding  and Salvation Army donations will not be picked up.
    • To request an appointment for the shut in service, please call the Hotline April 1st for Spring / August 26th for Fall
  • Hotline 248-451-4834 – Available: April 1st for the spring event / August 26th for the fall event – Leave your name, address & phone number. You will be called to schedule an appointment.

Think Sharp! – Home-generated needles, syringes, lancets

Beaumont Hospital will be offering a free community service in conjunction with the township for the collection of home-generated needles, syringes, and lancets. These items can be dropped off to Beaumont Medical Center at 6900 Orchard Lake Road on Friday, May 6th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The drop off area will be located at the loading dock on the north side of the medical center
