14 Mile Road closing for roundabout project

14 Mile Rd closing for new roundabout project

West of Orchard Lake Road – starting the week of April 6

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will close 14 Mile Road at the west side of the 14 Mile/Orchard Lake intersection on the Farmington Hills/West Bloomfield Township border beginning the week of April 6 as work begins on the project to construct a roundabout at the 14 Mile/Orchard Lake intersection.

This section of the 14 Mile Rd closing is expected to last until approximately July 4. During the closure, the detour route for 14 Mile through traffic will be Farmington Road to 13 Mile Road to Middlebelt Road and back to 14 Mile and vice versa.

Additionally, there will be temporary lane closures on 14 Mile Rd, Orchard Lake Rd and Northwestern Highway in the vicinity of the 14 Mile/Orchard Lake intersection beginning the week of March 30 and lasting for the duration of the project (through the fall). Motorists should expect delays in the area.

The roundabout is being constructed as part of the ongoing Northwestern Connector Project, which is intended to help improve traffic flow in the area where Northwestern Highway ends at Orchard Lake Road.
