KNIA Annual Meeting Report 2015

We had a good turnout for the 2015 KNIA Annual Meeting despite the harsh – but usual – Michigan February weather.

Board elections were held. Incumbent members were reelected. They are: Alan Abrahams, Anthony Barbour, Steve Glick, Diana Katz, Joel Katz, Gladys Margosian, John Rofel, and Ron Toth.

The budget was reviewed. Members voted to approve the Board’s proposal to keep the annual dues rate at the same amount as last year.

The proposed amendments to our Bylaws and Covenants & Restrictions were discussed.

More communications around this initiative will be planned. More information will be posted on our website, www.knhome.org. The proposal and ballot will be mailed out again with the upcoming dues notices.

Jeff O’Brien, from the Road Commission of Oakland County, reviewed the status of area road projects. He also addressed questions from residents.

For the 14 Mile Road realignment project, traffic signals, lighting, signage, and landscaping are pending. Residents expressed concerns about these matters. The RCOC is open to hearing our concerns. However, some decisions impacting various projects are made by local municipalities (e.g., West Bloomfield Township and City of Farmington Hills) and Michigan Department of Transportation.

The 14 Mile/Orchard Lake Road roundabout will begin this spring. Boulevard construction on Orchard Lake Road (between 14 Mile and Maple) is expected to begin in 2016.

Concerns were voiced about snow removal and road conditions. — A small portion of annual dues goes to snow removal which is performed by a sub-contractor. We do not salt our subdivision roads due to the damage that they cause to the road surface.

Subdivision roads are actually responsibility of RCOC. However, due to lack of funding, maintenance of these roads (including snow removal and repair) is not performed by them. This is generally the case across the county. However, RCOC does repair potholes within our subdivision when reported to them.

Because of the weather and other conditions beyond our control – or anyone’s, for that matter – some roads may be slicker than others. Please be cautious when driving all roads in our subdivision.

All roads will be inspected in the spring and maintenance and repair will be planned.

Residents were reminded that board meetings are open to them. Meeting dates are posted on our website.
